Mayoritas (94%) kematian ibu terjadi di negara berpenghasilan rendah dan menengah (WHO, 2020). Pada rakernas tahun 2020, angka kematian ibu di Indonesia pada tahun 2019 masih 305 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup (Kemenkes RI, 2020), yang masih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan target Indonesia pada Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) tahun 2030 yaitu sebesar 70 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup (Pusdatin, 2019).Era Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) dimulai pada tahun 2019 dengan program penurunan angka kesakitan dan kematian terkait kehamilan yang pencapaiannya masih sangat tinggi di dunia. Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) memproyeksikan bahwa setiap wanita hamil dan bayi baru lahir membutuhkan perawatan yang berkualitas dari kehamilan hingga masa nifas. Perawatan prenatal di Indonesia memainkan peran penting dalam memberikan perawatan yang berkualitas,karena perawatanantenatal mencakup unsur-unsurpromosi kesehatan, skrining, diagnosis dan pencegahan penyakit.Indonesia saat ini merupakan salah satu dari 13 negara dengan proporsi angka kematian ibu tertinggi di dunia. Tingginya angka kematian ibu disebabkan oleh komplikasi selama kehamilan. Menurut World Health Organization(2019), sekitar 287.000 ibu meninggal karena komplikasi selama kehamilan dan persalinan, seperti perdarahan 28%, preeklamsia/eklampsia 2%, infeksi 11%, dan penyebab tidak langsung (2019), trauma obstetrik) 5%. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk meminimalkan dan mencegah komplikasi pada saat persalinanadalah melakukan pemeriksaan kehamilan yang dilakukan secara rutin.Antenatal Care (ANC) adalah satu program terencana berupa observasi, pemberianedukasi-edukasidanpengobatanbagiibuhamiluntukmencapaikehamilan dan persalinan yang aman, memuaskan. Pemeriksaan kehamilan antenatal adalah frekuensi pemeriksaan kehamilan di fasilitas kesehatan yang ada, yaitu dokter, bidan, puskesmas, rumah sakit, dan fasilitas kesehatan swasta lainnya. Pemeriksaan antenatal sebaiknya dilakukan minimal empat kali dalam kehamilan yaitu 1 kali pada trimester pertama, 1 kali pada trimester kedua dan 2 kali pada trimester ketiga (Kemenkes, 2017). Pemeriksaan antenatal merupakan tindak lanjut ibu hamil untuk mempersiapkan fisik dan mental serta menyelamatkan ibu dan bayi selama kehamilan, persalinan dan nifas (Kemenkes RI, 2018). Pentingnya pemeriksaan kehamilan melalui pemeriksaan kehamilan, karena pada umumnya kehamilan berlangsung normal, namun dengan bertambahnya usia kehamilan cenderung menimbulkan komplikasi yang berbahaya (Rukiyah, 2013).Pemeriksaan kehamilan penting untuk memastikan bahwa proses alami kehamilan dapat berjalan normal dan terus berlanjut agar ibu hamil memiliki kehamilan yang sehat dan aman. Diperkirakan sekitar 15% sampai 20% dari seluruh ibu hamil akan mengalami kondisi risiko tinggi dan komplikasi obstetrik yang mengancam jiwa baik ibu maupun janin jika tidak ditangani dengan baik.Kemenkes RI, 2021).
